The Philippine eTravel system is used for eligible travelers entering or departing the Philippines. Complete the registration within 72 hours before your scheduled arrival or applicable departure. Requirements may differ for arriving foreign and Filipino passengers and for departing Filipino passengers, so check the latest instructions on the official Philippine eTravel website and follow any additional guidance from your airline.
Registration on the official eTravel platform is free. Avoid unofficial websites that ask you to pay for the registration.
After completing the form:
● Save a screenshot of the eTravel QR code.
● Keep the QR code available offline in case mobile data or airport Wi-Fi is unavailable.
● Make sure the information matches your passport and flight booking.
● Complete the form after your flight, accommodation, and Philippine contact details are confirmed.
Prepare a Simple Immigration Folder
Keep the following documents together on your phone, preferably as offline screenshots or PDF files:
● Passport and any visa required for your nationality.
● Return or onward flight booking.
● Hotel name, complete address, telephone number, and reservation confirmation.

As a safe planning rule, make sure your passport has at least six months of validity beyond your intended departure date unless an official exception applies to your nationality. For an international flight, plan to be inside the correct terminal approximately three hours before departure, or earlier if your airline recommends it. Work backward from that target and add a generous road-traffic buffer.
Once you have checked in, proceed to immigration and final security without unnecessary delay because queues can become long.

● Enter the exact terminal and departure area in Grab.
● Check the estimated travel time, but do not rely on the estimate alone.
● Allow extra time for traffic, rain, check-in, immigration, and security.

● Message a trusted contact when you leave the hotel and after you reach the terminal.
Step 2: Use Grab for Transportation
Grab works in a similar way to Uber and is a convenient option for airport transfers and travel around Manila.
Download Grab before your trip:

Bind your credit card or top up money to your wallet before arriving. Depending on what the app offers for your account and location, you may also be able to pay for a ride with cash, GrabPay, or a supported credit or debit card.
Grab Safety and Comfort Tips
● Set up the app and test your payment method before flying.
● Make sure mobile data is working before requesting a ride.
● At NAIA, follow the current Grab app instructions and airport signs to the designated pickup area.
● Do not follow an unofficial person offering a ride inside the arrivals hall.
● Before entering the car, match the driver's name, vehicle model, color, and plate number with the information in the app.
● Use Grab's ride-sharing safety feature to share your trip with a trusted contact when available.
● Communicate with the driver through the in-app chat whenever possible.

Manila Mobile Network Connection Status and Traveler Tips
Mobile connectivity in Metro Manila is generally good, particularly in major business and visitor areas such as Bonifacio Global City, Makati, Ortigas, central Manila, Pasay, and the NAIA airport area. Globe and Smart both provide broad 4G/LTE service and growing 5G coverage across metropolitan Manila. Globe reported network upgrades across Metro Manila during 2024 and 2025, including Taguig, Makati, Manila, Pasay, and other cities. Signal quality can still vary inside reinforced concrete buildings, basement parking areas, elevators, crowded conference venues, and during peak periods. For a short Manila business or conference trip, either Globe or Smart should normally be suitable. Choose based on phone compatibility, package price, and performance at your hotel and conference venue. If connectivity is essential for speaker coordination or work calls, keep your home SIM active for roaming as a backup, use a dual-SIM phone, or carry a second eSIM on another Philippine network.
SIM and eSIM Options
● Globe: Globe offers a Prepaid Traveler SIM and eSIM. Its traveler products support LTE and 5G where coverage, the handset, and the selected package allow it. Globe states that physical Traveler SIMs are available in the arrival areas of NAIA Terminals 1 and 3. An eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked phone can use Globe's digital option.
● Smart: Smart offers prepaid and tourist eSIM options for compatible devices. Smart also lists eSIM availability through Smart stores and airport booths. Review the current package, validity, and activation terms before buying.
Arrival and Daily Connectivity Tips
NAIA provides free Wi-Fi under the NewNAIA network across its terminals. The airport operator states that passengers can receive up to three hours of free access. Mobile Data, Maps, and Power
Arrange roaming, an eSIM, or a local SIM before or shortly after arrival. Reliable mobile data is useful for requesting Grab rides, checking maps, accessing bookings, and contacting the event organizer.
Before traveling:
● Download offline maps for Manila, Bonifacio Global City, your hotel, the event venue, and NAIA Terminal 3.
● Save your hotel and event venue as favorites in your map and Grab apps.
● Carry a charged power bank and charging cable in your hand luggage.
● Confirm your airline's power-bank capacity rules. Power banks are normally carried in cabin baggage rather than checked baggage.

● Check that your chargers support 100–240 V, as the Philippines commonly uses 220 V, 60 Hz electricity.
Money and Everyday Payments
The local currency is the Philippine peso, shown as PHP or ₱.
While malls, hotels, and BGC restaurants readily accept Visa and Mastercard, cash is still king for smaller purchases, tips, and convenience stores.
Withdraw Philippine pesos at an airport ATM if you need cash upon arrival. Use a machine operated by a recognized bank, shield your PIN, and decline help from strangers. Check the displayed withdrawal fee and choose to be charged in Philippine pesos if the ATM offers a currency-conversion choice.
Try to break large ₱1,000 bills when buying coffee or snacks at a mall, hotel, or established shop, as small vendors may not have enough change. Keep ₱50 and ₱100 notes handy for small purchases and tips. Avoid displaying or carrying more cash than you expect to need that day.
For a smoother trip:
● Inform your bank about international travel if your bank requires it.
● Carry a second payment card and store it separately from your main card.
● Keep a modest amount of cash for small purchases or payment-system problems.
● Use ATMs located inside airports, banks, malls, or hotels.

Bonifacio Global City Reminder
The entire Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is a non-smoking area. The rule is enforced strictly, and violations may result in fines.
Respect all posted no-smoking signs. If you must smoke, ask a building guard or venue security for the specific designated smoking area. Do not assume that smoking is permitted simply because you are outdoors.
BGC is walkable in many areas, but use proper pedestrian crossings and remain attentive because vehicles may turn quickly.
Personal Safety, Comfort, and Health
Manila can be busy, hot, humid, and crowded. A few simple habits can make the trip more comfortable:
● Keep a close eye on your belongings, especially in crowded transport areas and busy districts outside BGC.
● Do not walk near a busy street with your phone casually held out. Snatch theft can happen, particularly in crowded areas, so step inside a shop, hotel lobby, or another secure place if you need to check directions.
● Keep your phone secure near roads, transport areas, and crowded places.
