Live demo: https://vertexmacro.com/cloud_club/demo/leadership_card_game/index.html
This is a community practice product inspired by Working Backwards and Leadership Principles. It is not an official AWS product and does not confer certification credit.
Upfront value for investors
Investors are not buying a slide. The practice room already exists.
| Already in hand | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Live browser game | 600 cards, Basic and Advanced, 2–6 player rounds, three languages |
| HKD 1,386 raised | Browser and print unlocks are already open |
| Working cloud path | S3 hosting, DynamoDB card records, scheduled Lambda publish |
| Facilitation format | 45-minute meeting loop, win conditions, side-effect honesty |
| Three-city team | Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore — rooms that already speak two languages |
Upfront value is the product you can play today, plus a Private Membership Card Editor Cloud and a Private Membership Club that public visitors cannot enter.
Public demo = proof. Private Membership Card Editor Cloud = investor working copy. Private Membership Club = the closed circle that uses that copy together — Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore — before each public unlock.
We do not sell certification, equity, or AWS trademarks. Investor membership is access, practice inventory, and early surface rights tied to this campaign.
Private Membership Card Editor Cloud
A gated AWS workspace for founding investors, separate from the public S3 demo.
What members get
- Private card snapshot: same 600 IDs as public, plus investor-only drafts and facilitator notes
- Private Practice Night rooms (2–6 players) that do not appear on the public site
- Early Steam, Android, and iOS builds as each unlock funds — before store listing
- Print-run allocation and layout proofs when print ships
- Twitch Champion Competition observer lane and briefing pack
- Session export: which principles were spoken, which side effects were named, which rounds completed
How it runs
Same architecture as the public site, on a private path: DynamoDB remains the system of record; scheduled Lambda publishes a members-only JSON snapshot to a private S3 prefix; the browser never talks to the database. Membership is account-gated. Public visitors keep the open demo. Investors keep the working cloud.
Who it is for
Investors and founding backers who will run drills with real teams in Japan, Hong Kong, or Singapore, and who need the deck before each public unlock.
Public crowdfunding unlocks the surfaces. Private Membership Card Editor Cloud is the investor room that stays ahead of those surfaces.
Private Membership Club
Highlight for investors: the Club is not a mailing list. It is a closed practice circle with a seat, a city, and a speaking obligation.
The public campaign funds browser, print, Steam, Android, iOS, and Twitch. The Private Membership Club is the investor-only room that runs those surfaces first.
| Club seat | What it is |
|---|---|
| Closed roster | Founding investors only. No public signup. |
| Three-city circle | Japan · Hong Kong · Singapore — same deck IDs, local speaking language |
| Monthly Practice Night | 2–6 players, one honest round, side effects named aloud |
| Cloud + Club | Members use the Private Membership Card Editor Cloud; Club nights are scheduled, not optional browsing |
| Champion lane | Club observers and briefings for the Twitch Champion Competition before the public stream |
| No badge mill | No certification, no equity promise, no AWS trademark license |
What Club members do
- Hold a named seat in the investor roster
- Run at least one mapped workplace situation per Club night
- Receive print proofs, early Steam / Android / iOS builds, and facilitator packs through the Private Membership Card Editor Cloud
- Host or join a city night in Tokyo, Hong Kong, or Singapore (or a private remote table with the same rules)
- Keep session notes inside the Private Membership Card Editor Cloud: principle spoken, cost named, checkpoint set
What Club members do not get
- Public leaderboard fame
- The right to resell the deck
- AWS official status
The cloud is the locker. The Club is the room. Investors who want both get the working copy and the people who will speak it.
The problem
Cloud did not automate the hardest leadership skill: the first sentence under pressure.
Builders can design event-driven systems, argue latency budgets, and pass reviews. Then a customer escalation opens, a director asks for a decision, or a volunteer community waits for someone to name an owner — and the room fills with fog. Soft clauses. Deferred accountability. The hope that someone more senior will speak first.
Slide decks transfer concepts. They do not transfer behavior. Workshops inspire Tuesday and evaporate by Wednesday. The bottleneck is not knowing Leadership Principles. It is using them in a kickoff, an escalation, or a trust-recovery conversation, in the language the customer actually uses.
Leadership Card Game exists because short is trainable.
What we built
A speaking-card practice experience for real workplace moments: customer entrances, resource assembly, narrative ownership, and advanced stakeholder conflict.
The deck has 600 cards.
| Range | Focus |
|---|---|
| 001–150 | Community Manager |
| 151–300 | Builder |
| 301–600 | Advanced: executive conflict, public blame, unsafe dissent, irreversible decisions, trust recovery |
Each card is a constrained speech instrument:
- title and role
- leadership principle
- skill rating
- speaking line
- side effect
- advantage
- combination guidance
Players draw cards, speak the line aloud (or adapt it naturally), complete the action before claiming the advantage, apply the side effect honestly, and combine cards across roles to move from community dependency toward builder ownership.
Advantage without action is theater. Side effect without honesty is propaganda. Combination without ownership is networking cosplay.
How a round works
The unit of practice is the round, not the deck.
- 2–6 players.
- Three cards per player each round.
- Map the card to a live workplace situation. If it does not map, redraw.
- Speak. Do not silent-read.
- Name the customer, the owner, the cost, and the next checkpoint.
- Protect honesty on side effects.
- End the round, redeal, go again.
A 45-minute meeting can hold setup, one speaking round, reflection, and a second deal if time remains.
Languages
English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese share the same 600-card architecture and card IDs. A facilitator in Tokyo, a builder in Hong Kong, and a mentor in Singapore can coach from one shared deck. Players can switch interface language mid-session without resetting the round.
Leadership is a spoken sport. If practice only exists in one language, half the room watches instead of speaking.
What already runs in the browser
The community demo is live today:
- browse, search, filter, and open full card text
- live multiplayer turns for 2–6 players
- Basic and Advanced modes
- facilitator notes and win conditions
- multilingual decks
Architecture for the current site: Amazon S3 static hosting, DynamoDB as the card system of record, and a scheduled Lambda job that publishes JSON snapshots to S3. The browser never talks to the database. It fetches a static deck file.

Why this campaign
The browser demo proves the speaking habit can live in a tab. Backers asked for the same drill on a table, on Steam, in a pocket, and on stream.
We are raising HKD 5,000 to take one practice format across five surfaces, then host a public Twitch champion competition so rooms can watch the drill under a clock.
This is not a badge mill. We will not collapse multilingual decks into English-only, hide side effects, or sell certification.
Funding status
| Amount | |
|---|---|
| Goal | HKD 5,000 |
| Raised | HKD 1,386 |
| Remaining | HKD 3,614 |
Already unlocked
- HKD 100 — Browser-based game (live)
- HKD 1,000 — Print edition (in production planning)
Next unlock: Steam game at HKD 2,000. HKD 614 still needed to open that phase.
Unlock phases
Funding is cumulative. Each threshold keeps the previous surfaces and adds the next one.
HKD 100 — Browser-based game
Status: unlocked.
Keep the S3-hosted practice room online, refresh card JSON from DynamoDB on a schedule, and maintain English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. This is the shared source of truth for every later edition.
HKD 1,000 — Print
Status: unlocked.
Produce a physical deck so facilitators can run Leadership Practice Nights without a projector. Print is for rooms where phones stay down and speaking stays up: meetups in Hong Kong, builder circles in Singapore, community nights in Japan.
Print funds cover layout for 600 cards, multilingual plates, card stock, and a first production run sized to early backers.
HKD 2,000 — Steam game
Status: not yet unlocked. HKD 614 to go.
Ship a desktop client on Steam so remote teams can run the same round structure outside a browser tab: local or online 2–6 player sessions, Basic and Advanced, full card text, language switch without losing round state.
Steam is for weekly drills that should feel like a dedicated practice app, not a website bookmark.
HKD 3,000 — Android
Status: not yet unlocked.
Put the drill in a pocket. Android is for facilitators who travel, for builders who want a three-card hand on the commute, and for communities that already run Practice Nights on mixed devices.
The mobile edition keeps the same card IDs as browser, print, and Steam.
HKD 4,000 — iOS
Status: not yet unlocked.
Same practice loop on iPhone and iPad. iOS is not a reskin for its own sake. It is parity for rooms that standardize on Apple devices, especially in Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
If Android ships first, iOS follows the same card snapshot and win conditions. No split decks.
HKD 5,000 — Twitch champion competition
Status: not yet unlocked.
Host a public Twitch Champion Competition: timed rounds, visible side effects, multilingual speaking, and judging against the same win conditions used in the room.
- Increase trust, inclusion, consistency, independence, and healthy succession.
- Create direct leadership access, independently assemble resources, prove methods, and own measurable outcomes.
- Begin with customer value, use evidence through disagreement, and finish by delivering responsible results.
The competition is a broadcast practice night, not a trivia show. Viewers should hear the first sentence, the cost, and the checkpoint.
What the money pays for
| Use | Share of HKD 5,000 |
|---|---|
| Print production and fulfillment setup | HKD 1,000 |
| Steam build, store page, and session work | HKD 1,000 |
| Android build and device QA | HKD 1,000 |
| iOS build, review, and device QA | HKD 1,000 |
| Twitch Champion Competition production | HKD 1,000 |
The first HKD 1,386 already covers the live browser product and starts print. Later dollars are earmarked to the unlock they open. We will not spend Steam, Android, iOS, or Twitch budget until that threshold is reached.
Who we are
Three creators, three cities, one shared deck.
D.C. Dan — Japan
Product and systems. Owns the browser experience, the DynamoDB card record, the scheduled publish path to S3, and the rule that card IDs stay identical across languages and platforms.
L.L. Diana — Hong Kong
Facilitation and language. Owns Traditional and Simplified Chinese speakability, Practice Night format, and the requirement that mixed-language rooms can coach from full card text.
L.K. Lva — Singapore
Enterprise and competition format. Owns facilitator notes, the 45-minute meeting loop, Advanced-mode honesty on side effects, and the Twitch Champion Competition rules.
We are based in Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore because those rooms already run bilingual practice. The product assumes builders already know cloud services. The scarce skill is leadership speech under ambiguity.
Why Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore
Global teams often fail in translation — not of vocabulary, but of ownership. A kickoff sentence that works in one locale becomes vague in another.
Practice Nights in these cities showed the same pattern: English-first materials train only the people already fluent in the default language. Switching the deck to the language of the customer changes who speaks.
This campaign funds surfaces those rooms can actually use: a table deck in Hong Kong, a Steam client for a Singapore academy, a phone in a Tokyo commute, and a Twitch final that anyone can watch.
Risks and how we handle them
Print cost and shipping. A 600-card multilingual deck is heavy. The HKD 1,000 print unlock starts production planning; fulfillment details will be published before we charge remaining print pledges for postage.
Store review. Steam, Android, and iOS each have review queues. We ship browser and print first so practice does not wait on an app store.
Scope. We will not add scoring, HR integrations, or certification mapping in this campaign. Those come after the speaking habit sticks.
Honesty. If a later unlock misses its date, we keep the previous unlocked surfaces online and report the delay in public.
How to back
- Play the live browser game and complete one honest round.
- Pledge toward the HKD 5,000 goal.
- Investors: request Private Membership Club + Private Membership Card Editor Cloud with the pledge — the Club is the closed circle; the cloud is the working copy. Not the public demo.
- Help unlock Steam at HKD 2,000, then Android, iOS, and the Twitch Champion Competition.
The quote we want after you play is not “nice demo.” It is: “We used the speaking line in a real escalation the next day.”
FAQ
Is this an official AWS product?
No. It is a community showcase learning experience for practice.
Who is it for?
Community managers, Builders, facilitators, mentors, and any team that wants repeatable language for trust, inclusion, ownership, and customer-backed decisions.
Do I need six people?
No. Start with two players and one round. Speak every line aloud.
Will print, Steam, and mobile use different cards?
No. Card is the same scenario on every surface and in every supported language.
What if we only reach HKD 2,500?
Browser and print stay. Steam unlocks at HKD 2,000. Android, iOS, and Twitch wait until their thresholds.
What is the Twitch Champion Competition?
A public, timed leadership-speaking contest judged on win conditions, side-effect honesty, and whether the speaker created a repeatable opportunity for others — not on points trivia.
What do investors get that public players do not?
Upfront value: the live 600-card game, print already unlocking, and a working cloud publish path. Private Membership Card Editor Cloud: gated snapshots, early builds, session exports. Private Membership Club: closed roster, monthly Practice Nights in Japan / Hong Kong / Singapore, Champion briefing lane. Not equity and not AWS certification.
What is the Private Membership Club?
A closed investor practice circle. Named seats, scheduled nights, speaking obligation. The cloud holds the files; the Club holds the round. Public visitors cannot join.
Is the Private Membership Card Editor Cloud the public demo?
No. The public demo stays open. Investor membership is a separate S3 path and account gate. Public visitors cannot load member JSON.
The invitation
Open the game. Invite one other person. Choose Basic. Speak every line aloud. Apply the side effect. Ask: did we receive an opportunity, or create a repeatable opportunity for others?
Then help us put that round on a table, on Steam, on Android, on iOS, and on Twitch.
HKD 5,000. Six unlocks. Three cities. Private Membership Club for investors. One speaking habit.
